"I wanted this to be my career … I'm finally living out my childhood dream," Janet tells ET about her acting career, adding that her father Joe Jackson always wanted a career in music for her. Janet also revealed that although she loves acting, she'll be heading into the studio to record new music next year.
Our own Niecy Nash also attended Monday night's big premiere, and earlier Monday -- she sat down for an exclusive interview with the cast of the film and Tyler, which will air this week on Entertainment Tonight. "Overwhelmed was an understatement," Niecy said of the interview. "I laughed, I cried … I was just overwhelmed, to put it mildly."
'For Colored Girls' -- starring Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Kerry Washington, Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Kimberly Elise, and Phylicia Rashad, among others -- weaves the stories of nine different women whose paths cross for various reasons. The film, adapted for the big screen by Tyler Perry, was once an acclaimed Broadway production called For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf, based on a choreopoem by Ntozake Shange. |
